A dramatic title for some pretty non-dramatic updates. I’m releasing a bunch of instrumental music this summer, mostly under my project The Existential Dread. You can check out the convenient Release Timeline for the full list.
First up is “Ambient Symphony I in A Minor,” which I think is at least a bit self explanatory. I tried to work more guitar into my ambient compositions compared to my previous ambient work. This one’s coming out 5/12.

Next up is a bit of a variety album, with a focus on layering with a single instrument, and re-using themes. “Stuff” will hit streaming 6/9.

We’re switching over to Justin H.K. (and Justin Hurst) for just a moment. I like to release a more experimental album or ep under Justin H.K. each year on my birthday, because I can. This year I focused on rearranging some of my songs into surf tunes. “Surf Songs For SANDY People” will arrive on streaming 7/13.

Back to The Existential Dread we’ve got “Ghost From The West” hitting 8/11. I’m pretty excited about this one, as I feel like it really brings Pelican and Russian Circles style post-rock together with Marisa Anderson style western guitar.

I’m aiming for September on my next Justin H.K. release as well. I’m working on a concept album/ep and I’m maybe like, 50% through the process. I will certainly be giving more details when I finish up, but for now I will just say that it’s going to be more of a full on indie rock album, and it’s basically about mental health stuff. I’ll probably set a single to release in the next couple of months, so stay tuned.
