I think I’m going to start releasing these Monday or Tuesday so that I actually have some time to listen to the stuff I pick when I make the list on Friday. Also, since I’ve never made this clear: The order of the songs means nothing.

Via Mardot “Waxwork” Jul 25
Detroit theremist and composer Via Mardot brings us a sung piece for the first time in three years, and her brooding and full compositions blend oh so pleasantly with her melancholy vibrato.
Jenn’s Apartment “Give Up” Jul 26
Lansing rock band Jenn’s Apartment delivers high energy and a damn catchy chorus in this Ted Leo & The Pharmacists-esque track.
Moon Date “Maze” Jul 26
We get driving beats, moody synths, and soaring vocals in the poppy track “Maze” from Detroit indie synth-pop outfit Moon Date. Thanks folks, I love it.
Snakeskin “Wasabi” Jul 26
New York alternative musician Snakeskin hypnotizes with the nearly eight and a half minute track “Wasabi.” Getting the flow right for a long track like this is tough, and Snakeskin more than succeeds.
The Hard Quartet “Earth Hater” Jul 30
The debut single from newly formed indie rock supergroup Hard Quartet delivers TONE, and keep it all caps.
Hey, I also released music. Its an EP called RAD by The Existential Dread. It’s a trip-hop-ish, experimental remix of some of my unused songs from my main project with a focus on overlay drums. “King Of The Mud” off of it is right on the HI 5 playlist, and I’d love it if you checked it out.
