Boy did I not enjoy this 4th, but here’s some music to make it better.

MJ Lenderman “She’s Leaving You” Jun 24
MJ Lenderman certainly has a way with a hook, and a way with making his unique brand of lyricism catchy. This one really reminds me of 90s indie rock, and very specifically gives me some strong Superchunk vibes that I’m diggin’.
King Isis “Dissonance” Jun 26
You may have noticed King Isis is a pretty frequent name on this list. Hopefully you’re paying attention, because they’ve yet to dissapoint, and the dynamic and intense “Dissonance” certainly doesn’t.
Frank Wang “循环Loops” Jun 26
Man do I love the way this guy drums. Unique and highly danceable beats.
Melt-Banana “Flipside” Jun 28
I know noise rock isn’t for everyone, but the pure chaotic good energy melt-banana exhibits is undeniable, and “Flipside” is a perfect example of that infectious chaos.
Howevever “It’ll Happen” Jul 5
One of the best songwriters in bedroom pop with last years wonderful, “Phenakistoscope.” The songwriting on this song is phenomenal, being both musically dynamic and interesting as well as lyrically vulnerable and relateable.
I also released a new song, and added to HI 5. “Tab & Ed” is my first single off the upcoming (July 13) concept EP about a space hermit and their experience with the cat delivery system, “King Of The Derelict.” I’m calling the genre galactic country, and it’s reverby alt-country music with strong motif’s and a decent bit of synth.
